Circuitry
I made a greeting card for my partner. The story revolves around a frog and an avocado plant hanging out together at night in a forest by the water. My partner loves frogs, and I love avocados. The circuits act as a decorative element in the background, enhancing the warmth and loveliness of the atmosphere.
What was hard was making the circuit work. I test-ran it many times, and sometimes all three lights would work, but most of the time only two worked. I also felt that the lights were too strong. If I could change it, I would make the lighting dimmer. Moreover, it was my first time creating a pop-up book design, so I watched many tutorials online and chose one to implement in my design. It was very hard to decide how much depth I wanted to create with the pop-up. The paper was also quite thin, so I had some trouble making sure the pop-up parts didn’t recede back into the paper. Overall, I am very happy with the outcome. Circuitry is not as difficult as I had imagined before. I would love to make more pop-up cards with circuitry in the future!
If I were to teach this project to 4th graders, I would make the pop-up optional since it can be more technically challenging to make both the circuits and the pop-up design work. However, I would challenge them to add sound to their greeting card.
